Hi again, folks!

My temporary job ended a few days ago, so it didn't last long (19 days) but at least it was my first experience as a teacher in a high school, so I learnt something. AND I got paid, of course.

I'm going back to my German classes soon, since I have the time, and as soon as I can I'll start sending my CV again... Hopefully I'll get another job soon. Pray for me!

Other than that, I just realised I didn't post when I finished my [community profile] iddyiddybangbang fic. If anyone's interested, it's 17k with Blake/Avon, whump and BDSM:

Also, since it's October, I want to ask: is anyone doing participating in any writing, art or any other creative events? I've been thinking about trying Kinktober, but I also see people doing Whumptober, Goretober, etc.

Life has been crazy lately, so I'm very sorry I haven't had time to reply to some posts! Particularly those by [personal profile] kitarella_imagines. Sorry, I'll get back to you soon!

So, at first I was really busy writing my fic for [community profile] iddyiddybangbang. Thankfully, I finished it days ago, so now I only have to finish editing it before my deadline, which is on Monday. But there's bigger news in my life.

I got a job! I hadn't worked for a while because I was looking after my grandma for years, so I only did some very occasional work as well as continuing my studies (distance learning!). Since my grandma passed away on late June, I now have full availability for a job. This week I got a call on Tuesday for an interview, they selected me AND I had to start on Wednesday! It's been three insane days where I've barely been able to talk to anyone online, and on Tuesday I didn't even sleep at ALL because of how nervous I was.

It's my first time teaching outside of any internships, so I'm struggling because I'm quite inexperienced and I have to teach different groups of kids of different ages, etc. But I want to get better, develop my skills and become a good teacher!

I hope everyone's doing well <3

How's everyone doing?

As you probably know now I've been dedicating this lockdown to watching TV shows I didn't have time to watch before. But lately that hasn't felt enough and I've started doing other things (fandom related) as I was feeling the urge to create besides just consuming fictional content. That means I've both done some drawing and some writing!

Hello there! It's been almost a year since I last posted here, although I never went back to Tumblr anyway (leaving Tumblr was the reason why I joined DW). I've mostly been on Twitter but I thought I might try being here again. How is everyone doing? I hope you're all safe, here in Spain we've been on lockdown for at least 40 days I think, and it's honestly a lot.

I've been distracting myself by watching tv shows. First I finished watching Xena, which I had started watching already, and although I hated the ending I loved the show. I watched it as a kid so it brought good memories, and of course I LOVE Xena/Gabby. After that I watched Battlestar Galactica, which I also loved and actually had an ending that I liked (controversial, I know). I'm a bit obsessed with Gaius, as I think he's the most interesting character in the show, and with Six (especially Caprica) and their relationship. Finally, I decided to start watching Star Trek a few days ago. Mind you, I've been wanting to do so for years, but the amount of tv shows and films of the franchise intimidated me. I felt that I was ready now! I'm enjoying TOS so far, I hadn't watched old sci-fi since my Doctor Who days when I'd watch some random classic Who serials.

One last question since I'm back. Are there any active comms that you are enjoying lately?

Fellow podcast fans, I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about what's coming in 2019 so far. The Whisperforge has announced at least 3 new audiodramas (if I remember correctly), and apparently the first one to be released is gonna be Caravan. The story and characters sound very appealing to me (a millennial protagonist who falls into a hidden world full of demons and vampires, and who joins a caravan of bounty hunters lead by a trans/nb cowboy) and at last the cast information has been published. While I only know 3 of the people listed, I'm very excited to hear all the voices and how they work together. Oh, and also, Evan Cunningham is the creator of the theme music, and after how much I liked the musical episode of The Bright Sessions, I'm expecting great music. Of course, Mischa Stanton is the lead sound designer, and they are really the best at it (they won 4 or 5 awards on the audioverse awards this year!). Are there any more new audiodramas you are excited about?

I don't know how many of you know about my obsession with French webseries by the Frenchball/Frenchnerd team, but I think that this time it's been very helpful for me to get addicted again. Since their most famous show, Le Visiteur du Futur, is gonna be made into a movie (a sequel, but apparently it's gonna be made so that anyone can watch, even if they don't know the show), I've been rewatching the show. The sad part is, for some reason season 3 is blocked on YouTube for several countries (I'm on a discord server and met an Australian fan who had the same problem). So, I'm having to watch them somewhere else, but with no subtitles. And what am I doing? I'm taking French lessons on Duolingo. Now, I studied some French in high school, but I've forgotten a lot, so this is making me remember what I knew and also I'm learning some new things. I've been taking lessons for 8 days now I think! Let's see if I can keep it going.

Finally, I'd like to talk a bit about icons. You see, I've only ever used LJ to post icons and participate in icon challenges, and I started in 2012. I managed to make some beautiful icons over the years, and I loved the community. Now that I'm on DW I've posted some icons here, but I still participate on challenges on LJ and I feel like the community is much more active there. It's weird, because everything else is pretty much dead on LJ and getting more activity here.

It might be too soon to say this, but at the moment I don't think Tumblr is gonna be as abandoned as it could have been. Many people are sticking around. I haven't posted anything in a few days, I think, but I haven't deleted my account either... And you know what? I don't really get why we have been so passive to all the shit we've had to see on Tumblr.

Don't get me wrong, I think everyone who has used Tumblr for a few years (I joined Tumblr on 2011) has had many great experiences there and met amazing people. Of course we have. But there were many times when the features we liked were changed in a way we didn't like, or the site maybe was literally broken for hours, etc. And for months now we've had to deal with pornbots reblogging all posts and adding their fucking links there, literally making it impossible for you to check the actual comments that people reblog posts with because 99% of them were pornbots. Then the app was deleted from app stores because people were using Tumblr to spread child pornography, and only then they decide todo something about it? Which, fair, at least they are doing something now, but it's such a bad move the post staff published that was supposed to be an example of what is permitted to be published under the new policy was FLAGGED. Oh, the irony.

My point is, I don't know what has to happen for people to really leave the site entirely. I like DW, I think I'm gonna stick around for a while, but I can't speak for everyone.

Hey! I'm finally making my first post here. I've been thinking about what I might post about in the near future, and I've had some ideas:
  • Reposting stuff: I should repost the icons I made for lj (100x100), to have them here for myself but also for anyone who might want to use them. I'm also thinking I should repost some of the meta I wrote for Tumblr that people enjoyed (it's mostly about Macdennis).
  • Fanfiction: it might be good to have a post with links for my ff.net and ao3 fanfiction.
  • Recs: maybe someone would be interested in a podcast rec! I mostly listen to audiodramas so it would be mainly about those.
  • Other new stuff: some personal opinions about fandom and what's going on with tumblr, and finally my Dragon Age theories.
As you can imagine (or know already) I'm pretty new here so if you have any other ideas of what might be interested to post here to start getting used to and enjoy Dreamwidth, let me know!

all of this has happened before

all of this will happen again
