Life update!

Life has been crazy lately, so I'm very sorry I haven't had time to reply to some posts! Particularly those by kitarella_imagines. Sorry, I'll get back to you soon!

So, at first I was really busy writing my fic for iddyiddybangbang. Thankfully, I finished it days ago, so now I only have to finish editing it before my deadline, which is on Monday. But there's bigger news in my life.

I got a job! I hadn't worked for a while because I was looking after my grandma for years, so I only did some very occasional work as well as continuing my studies (distance learning!). Since my grandma passed away on late June, I now have full availability for a job. This week I got a call on Tuesday for an interview, they selected me AND I had to start on Wednesday! It's been three insane days where I've barely been able to talk to anyone online, and on Tuesday I didn't even sleep at ALL because of how nervous I was.

It's my first time teaching outside of any internships, so I'm struggling because I'm quite inexperienced and I have to teach different groups of kids of different ages, etc. But I want to get better, develop my skills and become a good teacher!

I've got totally caught up in a 1970s crime fighting show The Professionals Have you watched that?

It's brilliant. The SLASH. The CHEMISTRY. in that show. For a buddies crime drama, it's a fanfic writers' dream.

I'll probably get into it one day, since I know it had a big slash fandom back in the day! Have you finished watching it? Read any fics yet? I'm curious!

Well, my intention to start watching from the beginning didn’t get very far! (by that I mean the real beginning, the first episode filmed, not the order the episodes were broadcast, which was very different) Real life got in the way and I've only watched 3 out of 57 episodes. 😂

I am specifically watching in the as-filmed order so I can see the Legendary Relationship develop. In the very first episode our lads were almost glaring and snarling at each other, but they soon settled down into the light-hearted banter, flirting and groping behaviour.

But I've read and written fics already. I got more caught up in those than the actual series!

One of the reasons I like The Professionals is because I’m intrigued by the actors’ volatile and mysterious real life relationship—it seems they had a bit of a love/hate thing going on. The whole reason they were given the roles was because the producer/whoever noticed that they didn’t get on well with each other in another show, and The Professionals benefited immensely from the chemistry and spark they had. As an RPF writer, I'm trying not to get too caught up in that, haha.

Oh yes, since you're busy now I can imagine it's hard to find time to watch the episodes in peace. But as long as you're having fun you can take your time!

It really sounds slashy, I know I'll get into it eventually haha.

I had no idea about the actors having that sort of relationship! That's so interesting. It makes a lot of sense that it'd influence their on-screen chemistry, so that was very clever for the producers to notice and use on the show.

Yes, I really liked Blake’s 7 but the slash in that is nothing compared to The Professionals 😂

Another good thing about The Professionals is the really cool title music and incidental music. I'm not really a fan of music but it is a real timeless classic. Full of all the 1970s wacka wacka noises, you’ll know what I mean when you watch it.

isn't it fantastic! It is one of the best theme tunes of all time IMO. And a lot of people agree with me.
