I'm just very confused by this because, although I've only seen the Star Trek 2009 and not the other 2 in that Abrams trilogy, I thought the Kelvin universe only existed since the moment Nero destroyed the Kelvin ship, so how come we're getting movies about events we already saw? Are they changing the lore so that these events were retroactively changed by Nero's actions?
I just don't understand this, truly.
And now for some good news (imo):
I love Holly Hunter, so this is great news!Let's face it, I also think she'll be very hot in uniform, and I hope she's mean.

The “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” series at Paramount+ has cast Holly Hunter in a lead role, Variety has learned.(Source: Variety)
Hunter’s character will serve as the captain and chancellor of the Academy, presiding over both the faculty and a new class of Starfleet cadets as they learn to navigate the galaxy in the 32nd century.
I love Holly Hunter, so this is great news!
