Err...
(Source: THR)
Creation of "the" Starfleet? We saw that on Enterprise. Humankind's first contact with alien life? That was the movie First Contact.
I'm just very confused by this because, although I've only seen the Star Trek 2009 and not the other 2 in that Abrams trilogy, I thought the Kelvin universe only existed since the moment Nero destroyed the Kelvin ship, so how come we're getting movies about events we already saw? Are they changing the lore so that these events were retroactively changed by Nero's actions?
I just don't understand this, truly.
And now for some good news (imo):
I love Holly Hunter, so this is great news!Let's face it, I also think she'll be very hot in uniform, and I hope she's mean.
The project is said to be set decades before the events of the 2009 movie that was directed J.J. Abrams, likely around modern times. It is said to involve the creation of the Starfleet and humankind’s first contact with alien life.

The “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” series at Paramount+ has cast Holly Hunter in a lead role, Variety has learned.(Source: Variety)
Hunter’s character will serve as the captain and chancellor of the Academy, presiding over both the faculty and a new class of Starfleet cadets as they learn to navigate the galaxy in the 32nd century.
I love Holly Hunter, so this is great news!

Date: 2024-05-24 10:00 am (UTC)I'm not sure if they're gonna do Legacy any time soon, since I'm hearing Matalas is doing a different, non-Trek project now. I think it's a Marvel thing? But we'll see!
And yeah, we'll see about this new movie. It just sounds weird to me right now.

Date: 2024-05-25 10:01 pm (UTC)Trip was cute, I agree! Shran is a big fave of mine, and I just adore Jeffrey Combs in general. I always wanted to see more Andorians on Trek, so I was really happy that they had Shran and explored more of Andoria in the show! I find Phlox interesting as well, and he was of a new species so everything about the character was original. Personally, I liked how T'Pol was played, although she wasn't always treated well as a character. What really was a shame was how underwritten Hoshi and especially Mayweather were. Seriously, I think poor Mayweather is particularly forgotten by everyone because he was just... there.
The show isn't very good overall, but the last season was great! Except for the finale. Never watch the finale.
