New fanvid + other things

Remember I said I was making a fanvid?

Well, I haven't finished that one YET. It was so much work at first, with an entire section of 1-second long clips, that I started to hate it, so I was wise enough to let it rest for a while. I rewatched what I have so far today and, would you have guessed, I actually think it's pretty good. So I'll finish it one of these days!

But I've already finished another one! This is a funny one, which is my fave genre of vids, and I'm happy with how it turned out:

Basically I realised that there was an American Idiot parody by Weird Al called Canadian Idiot and I wondered if there were no due South fanvids set to it, because isn't it just perfect? AND I FOUND NONE. So of course I decided to give it a try myself.

More stuff under the cut in case anyone's here just for the vid for some reason.

I'm still working on the one WIP I have for an exchange. I can't say more, but I'm happy with how it's going so far!!!

Other than that, I have a couple of WIPs for my Ladies Bingo card, and I reaaaally should start with those again once I finish the exchange fic, which has a much closer deadline. But getting into due South is going to be a problem, I fear! I'm thinking of writing something about Frannie and Elaine, or Thatcher and Frannie, Frannie and Ma Vecchio... There are some options there! But as you can imagine, most of my attempts at due South WIPs are slash. Although I don't think you can imagine the GRIP Ray/Ray has on me right now. It's driving me crazy!

OH, also, this might be a bad thing to hide under a cut, but... Does anyone know where I can find due South icons??

Oh, YOU are the one who made that excellent vid -- "Canadian Idiot" -- that I watched three tines in a row and then left comments? (Sometimes I get confused when there's a DW name and an AO3 name and I think it's two different people but it's really one person with two pseuds.)

I got many of my dS icons at due South icons on Livejournal, but nowadays many of the icons on that comm have the Photobucket mark on them...but you could try contacting members of that comm and asking if they have unmarked copies of their icons to share.

And speaking of sharing dS fanworks, would you be willing to share a download link for your vid so I could still watch it at times when I'm not online?

Thank you for the link to that comm! I figured that would be the case with Photobucket, it happens to me very often when I'm looking for icons for older fandoms. I used to make a lot of icons myself and it's sad how many are unusable now!!

And yes, if you're ok with it I can PM you the link. I don't really remember my password for the sites I used years ago to upload things to be downloaded so I'll be using Google Drive is that's ok?

You are multi-talented! A vid maker and an icon maker! (My one attempt at vidding ended in being an abandoned project and I haven't even learned anything yet about making icons.)

I don't know much about vidding techniques, so I'm not very prolific. But I really enjoy the process! Sometimes it's very frustrating. I have another due South fanvid in the making but it's giving me a headache so I've abandoned it for a bit, haha.

I'd love to make icons again but I think I peaked years ago and now it's just not the same, I've lost practice! But I think I really got good at them eventually, although I never ever got a handle on using text. Still, I miss that era when icon making was more of a thing. There's still a bit of a surviving community here, so I'm sure you can find tutorials and so on if you're interested. They were always helpful to me!
