23. 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms.
Choosing favourites is always such a hard thing to do for me! Let's try, though.
Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables)
I grew up with this version of Anne and she was such an inspiration for me at a young age. Her strong personality and love of books, as well as her dramatic way of speaking because of how much she read at her age, really resonated with me and made me more proud of those parts of myself.

Anders (Dragon Age 2)
If you've been in this fandom, you know people have VERY strong opinions about this guy. I'm one of those who adore the character. The game has massive flaws, of course, but I always loved his romance, his story, and the drama of how things unfolded. A tragic figure, in my opinion, who took desperate measures in an extreme situation. I always felt protective over him because of the way many talked about him. Of course, I know he's fictional! But I was very attached to him at the time. I can't not name him on this list!

Quark (Star Trek: DS9)
You might think this is a bizarre choice, but it's my truth! He could be funny, charming, irritating, a capitalist pig, a hero, a terrible son, an awful boss, a mid Ferengi, a good friend... But always such a charismatic character in the show! It was such a hard thing to do, overcoming what the Ferengi were like in TNG, and Quark was a fully fleshed-out, complex character beautifully played by Armin Shimerman. He had a wonderful dynamic with René Auberjonois's Odo, and his role in DS9 was often as crucial as anyone else's. I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed the character and Shimerman's performance.

Gabrielle (Xena: Warrior Princess)
One of the best character developments I've ever seen on TV! She went through so much, and grew up alongside Xena until she became the mature warrior she was at the end of the series. It's almost shocking when you watch early episodes and see a baby-faced Gabrielle with long hair and a dress, stumbling her way into Xena's life by being her curious, brave self. Through her journey, she went through a lot of trauma, learnt about her fate and even dismissed it to aid Xena. Gabrielle was also part of what I believe is one of the best love stories ever told on TV, that of her and Xena, but that was only part of what made the character interesting. Her physical transformation is also impressive, as well as unique. Have you seen many female characters who become less feminine as they grow? I haven't!

Kim Kitsuragi (Disco Elysium)
Anyone who's played this game will understand! To know him is to love him. When you're playing this game, your character is disoriented, amnesic, and it's the gentle Kim who goes along with you, supports you, and very early on you notice everything you're doing is just to get Kim's approval and affection. I mean, that's how I played it. My friends, too. And then, throughout the story, you get to know him better, see him do things for you, do things for him, and it's really such a special experience of a game, beautiful and haunting, and he's a big part of it. Emotionally, I'm still attached to this guy even more than a year after having played the game.

24. 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms.
I'm gonna take this opportunity to talk about some of my less popular OTPs!
Braca/Scorpius (Farscape)
Loyalty! Leather! Lots of kinks! It's really a ship that kept growing on me, and it was pretty much there, at least subtextually. They were canonically referred to as Mr. Burns and Smithers, what else could I ask for? Pet play? Wait, they did that too!

Henry/Visiteur (Le Visiteur du Futur)
What if your best friend was a gay robot and you lived together and couldn't stand to be apart? What if your love for each other saved the universe? What if he was the heart beating inside your heart? Sorry, I just got a bit emotional about them again.

Gaius/Six (Battlestar Galactica)
Listen. Listen. They were the best part of this show for me, and that's saying something. Gaius was pathetic and funny, Six was menacing and sexy. She was tall and scary, and the femdom vibes were so real. And they actually loved each other? It's crazy, but they did. There's one thing she does for him in a flashback that made me cry so much, because it's connected to a family situation I was starting to go through when I first watched the show. Ah, I just love them so much to this day.
