I don't think I'm posting anything else this month, so let me do a round-up of what I posted after that one A/T drabble.

The first two drabbles were written for GPSC's MayPair event, where we write rarepairs. The prompt this year was to include the line "oh hell no." I made a picker wheel with ALL listed characters on the Wiki and used it to write a double drabble, which ended up being about Lurena (the woman from Star One) and Alta One (from "Redemption", one of the aliens controlled by the System and from the world where the Liberator comes from):

Systemic Love, Lurena/Alta One, 200 words
Lurena wakes up to machines beeping around her.

She pulls at the tubes attached to her body, hissing in pain. Her bare feet touch the floor. There’s no visible door in the room, only metallic panels. One of them slides open. A woman with a silver dot on her forehead walks in. The room closes again.

“Your recovery is not yet complete.” Her voice is mechanical, her face deadpan. “You will return to the surgical bed.”

Lurena takes a step back. “Are you an Andromedan?”

The woman stares blankly. “I am an Alta from Spaceworld.”

“Why did you save my life?”

The Alta touches her forehead dot. After a moment, she speaks again. “The System ended the war in our world. Now it will end it in yours.”

Lurena narrows her eyes. “What’s the catch?”

The Alta continues to stare. “Clarify.”

“What does your System expect in return?”

The Alta steps forward. “You will join the System.”

Lurena takes a step back, bumping against the bed. “Oh, hell no!”

She grabs Lurena by the shoulders and crashes their mouths together. As another consciousness takes over, her body sags. I haven't been kissed in years, she thinks, and then she's gone.

For my second one, I found an Avon/Dorian WIP from last year and finished it.

Hot Bath, Avon/Dorian, 100 words
The bathroom door opens. Avon narrows his eyes across the frosted glass.

“Dorian?”

The man chuckles softly. “I just wanted to make sure everything was to your liking.”

Watching the blurry figure approach the bathtub, Avon arches an eyebrow. “Indeed.”

“If there’s nothing else you need, I’ll take my leave.” But he doesn’t move.

Avon smirks. “Is Soolin aware of how you treat your visitors?”

“We rarely have any, but I don’t think she would mind. Do you?”

A few minutes later, Dorian, knelt by the tub, turns his head to the blonde woman by the door.

“Oh, hell no!”

After these drabbles, I kept going through my WIP folder and found a Dayna/Soolin ficlet that was almost finished, so I decided to do some editing and finally post it.

A Reason to Stay, Dayna/Soolin, 888 words
Dayna pushes the sides of the pillow against her ears, muffling the noise. “Are they going to be at it all night?”

Soolin’s voice sounds stifled. “No, they’re too old for that. Who do you think will break a hip first?”

Dayna laughs and throws the pillow aside. She’s sharing a room with Soolin, just like Vila and Tarrant across the corridor. Naturally, Avon gets to stay the night in Blake’s big quarters, although it seems sleeping isn’t part of their plans.

She can tell the two men are saying things to each other between all the moans and grunts, but they’re inaudible, thankfully. Hearing their private words would be a far worse intrusion into their intimacy than the sounds of their lovemaking, with which she’s now more acquainted than she had ever wanted to be.

The bed creaking on the floor above sounds like it's about to break, and then it stops. Soolin and Dayna stare at each other in the dimly lit room, holding their breaths. But just when Dayna is getting her hopes up, a thud and a loud groan announce the action is about to resume.

Dayna sighs, but Soolin laughs, clearly still more amused than annoyed.

“Hey, I have an idea,” Soolin says. “You know what they say: if you can’t beat them...”

Dayna frowns. “I will not be joining those two in bed. I think they’ve got their hands full already. Don’t you?”

Soolin’s bed creaks as she stands and walks over to Dayna’s, crouching down until they’re at eye level. Dayna can see a hint of her wicked smile.

“I meant just you and me, Dayna. Unless you’d rather have Tarrant or Vila.”

Dayna’s cheeks start to heat up.

“I've already had enough of Tarrant – he was more interested in impressing me than in, well, me. And as for Vila... I think I want a break from older men for now.”

Soolin raises an eyebrow. “That leaves me. Interested?”

Dayna considers it and finds that she is, at the very least, rather curious. She’s always found Soolin beautiful; but since they’d met, life had kept them too busy for Dayna to explore any of that. She nods.

Soolin smiles and lays a hand on Dayna’s leg, lightly stroking up and down her knee. She’s warm and soft, her touch soothing. “Have you ever been with a woman before?”

Dayna’s heart races faster. “No, but I’m a fast learner.”

“We’ll see about that,” Soolin says, and leans forward to kiss her.

“Wait!”

Soolin freezes, her face hovering above Dayna’s.

Dayna’s hand moves towards the bedside table, touching around until she manages to turn on the lamp. She grins. “If we’re doing this, I want to see you.”

Soolin breathes a sigh of relief and smiles back. “I like the way you think.”

Their lips finally meet and the noises above them disappear.

“Sleep well?”

Tarrant’s curls look deflated, and his half-open eyes are scanning the common room as the two women walk in. Beside him, Vila’s face is buried in his arms over the table.

Dayna and Soolin exchange a look before sitting down in front of the men.

“Actually, I did,” Dayna says.

Soolin beams. “Me too.”

Vila lets out a groan. “At least someone did!”

Tarrant rolls his eyes. “Vila, you were snoring all night. It was I who had to stay awake while the rest were celebrating.”

He stops talking when the sound of steps approaches the room, and, sure enough, Avon and Blake enter. Avon’s hair and clothes are slightly dishevelled, but it’s enough to be noticeable. He isn’t smiling, but there’s no need. Behind him, Blake’s smile is big enough for both of them.

“Well,” Soolin says, “someone overslept.”

Avon gives her a look, but Blake just chuckles. “Yes, we did. You’ll forgive the indulgence, I hope.”

Tarrant scoffs as Blake sits by his side, and Avon next to Vila. “As long as you forgive my lack of enthusiasm today, considering I couldn’t get much sleep last night.”

Dayna rolls her eyes at Soolin, who chuckles in response.

“Come on, Tarrant,” Soolin says. “It’s just one day. I’m sure you’ll sleep like a baby tonight.”

Tarrant sighs and takes a look at Vila. “I might, if I can share a room with someone else.”

Soolin looks at Dayna with a half-smile. Under the table, Dayna squeezes her hand lightly and nods. Dayna can feel Avon’s eyes on them, and when her eyes flicker to him she could swear she notices a slight tug at the corners of his lips.

“We can swap for the night,” Soolin says to Tarrant, her thumb drawing circles under Dayna’s palm. “I don’t mind some snoring. Trust me, I’ve had worse.”

He offers her a weak smile. “Thank you, Soolin.”

“Soolin,” Blake’s voice says, making heads turn, “Avon has told me you are a native.”

She nods. “I am. But if you’re looking for connections, I’m afraid I don’t have any left. My entire family was killed.”

“I’m very sorry to hear that,” Blake says. “But I still think your knowledge could be very valuable for us if you choose to stay.”

“And her skill,” Avon adds.

Dayna’s hand tightens over Soolin’s.

“Well, if you insist,” Soolin says with a smile on her face – under the table, her hand squeezes Dayna’s back.
